The Information Matrix host, Laurence Fishburne, has established an impressive and heralded career, amassing over one-hundred credits across the stage, television, and film. He’s well known for his iconic role as Morpheus in the Matrix trilogy. He is also known for major for roles in such films as; John Wick 2, Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer, Mission Impossible III, Mystic River, Boyz n the Hood, What’s Love Got to Do With It, and Apocalypse Now. On the small screen, the award-winning and versatile actor played compelling roles in shows such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: New York and Hannibal. The Information Matrix host currently stars as Pops on the hit TV comedy Black-ish.
Born in Augusta, Georgia to a schoolteacher and a juvenile corrections officer, Laurence Fishburne began his acting career in his teenage years. He found immediate success with a number of roles… including his impressive role, at only 14 years of age, in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now. Fishburne’s success expanded in the 1990s, receiving a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for portraying musician Ike Turner in What’s Love got to Do With It. And, he became the first black actor to play Shakespeare’s Othello in a major screen adaptation. Fishburne then originated the classic role of Morpheus in the box-office favorite The Matrix and its sequels, starring alongside Keanu Reeves. This role launched him further into the spotlight, garnering him additional prominent roles in films such as Contagion, Predators and the Superman film Man of Steel as Daily Planet’s Perry White. As one of Hollywood’s most talented actors, Fishburne has received numerous awards, including several Emmys and NAACP awards.
